Character Motivation: When the so-called gods descended from the sky and told Konoe that his help is specifically needed to save his world and the few friends he's managed to make, as well as to stop the Void,  he found it hard to refuse. He's still not entirely sure about how he's going to help, but that's another bridge to cross.

VOLUNTEER PROFILE

Name: Konoe
Age: 18 (physically and chronologically)
Physical Appearance: Official Art

Point in Timeline: After encountering the devils in the Field of Four Colors where Konoe's curse was removed for the first time, and while they are waiting to see if they can find more information on the sorcerer behind the Void.

World Description: The land where Konoe comes from is Sisa, inhabited entirely by a race of cat people known as ribika. The climate there is mild, with little winter and an almost eternal spring, and is surrounded by a golden ocean. There is no sun, only a Moon of Light and a Moon of Shadow. It is heavily forested and inhabited by small villages and one large city-Ransen. The forests are dangerous, inhabited by monsters, demons, bandits, and recently the Void, which is some strange force that seems to be causing nature itself to reject the cats entirely.

History/Background: Konoe was born and basically raised himself in a small village called Karou. Unknown to him, Konoe is the vessel for the main villain's-Leaks'-emotions, because the magician was in love with Konoe's dad. This gives him his empathetic abilities as well as Leaks' face and magic abilities, and the powers of the Sanga from his father. With the Void creeping in on Sisa, Konoe is around 18 when he is visited by four devils in his sleep and cursed, then subsequently chosen as the village sacrifice to be eaten alive.

Konoe manages to escape into the forest, aiming for the city of Ransen and runs into one of the magician's minions, who tells Konoe he is just entertainment. Konoe then gets waylaid by bandits, only to find himself rescued by a silver-haired cat. Escaping, he finds his way to the village of Kira, where he hears there are cats with black ears and markings like him, but find out from the chief they are unrelated in any way. He is offered to stay the night with Asato, a strange but friendly cat, who then protects him as he runs away when a devil riles up the cats to attack Konoe. Konoe eventually makes it back to the forest where he travels some more. He encounters the silver haired cat again, fighting him until they reach a standoff, and reveals his name as Rai. The two then fight the bandits from earlier, which is when Konoe finally discovers his powers as a Sanga.

Rai then tells him he'll take Konoe to Ransen if he'll be his partner, and Konoe eventually agrees if he helps with the curse. They arrive at Ransen, learned from some bandits that their opponent's name is Leaks. After practicing being a Sanga, Konoe gets a message from the mysterious Poet who has been helping him this whole time and takes Rai to see a shamen, who tells more about the curse and points him to the Field of Four Colors.

After this, Asato returns and eventually is convinced to stay by Konoe, who is heading there with Rai. They rest at a village, where Leaks arrives and turns all the residents into zombies just to mess with him. After a short fight with him and his minions, the three finally arrive at the Field of Four Colors. Konoe sees visions of the four devils, but since they were unable to make him succumb to his emotions,  they seem to have left him and lifted the curse. Leaks appears again and crushes all the stones in the field, seemingly killing the devils. The group then heads back to Ransen, where they finally stay for a night in the inn to figure out what to do next.

Konoe goes out the next day and meet the devils, who were not killed but just drained of their power, and willing to work together with Konoe to take down Leaks. Konoe sets them up with a room in the inn, where the innkeeper, Bardo, says that since there is a festival going on, they might be able to get in to look at the library of Ransen, which might contain information about Leaks.

Noteworthy Positive Characteristics:

Empathic: Konoe may have a special ability to feel the emotions of other people and even if he doesn't want this power of his, he's still able to relate deeply with other peoples' struggles. Even when his empathy isn't working, Konoe still remarks on how he feels for innocent cats and characters who get caught up in things they don't deserve to, though often the empathy then kicks in. In meeting Asato, he remarks how similar the two of them seem, not having any family and being an outcast and feels sorry for his situation since he can relate. When a village of cats are killed and turned into undead monsters, he feels sorrow and rage for their situation.

Determination: Despite the fact that life has thrown him through a hellhole, Konoe never really gives up on living or what he wants to accomplish. Even when he is cursed and chosen as the village sacrifice, he desperately struggles to escape and learn how he can solve this problem. He's constantly fighting to survive and refuses to give up even in the face of a dark sorcerer and devils who are powerful enough to just toy with him.

Loyal: Despite him being rather aloof and unfriendly at first, once Konoe makes friends with someone he stays friends with someone. Tokino, his one friend he had since childhood, is someone that Konoe thinks of a lot, even giving him a sign he ran away from home in case Tokino headed back to the village and was worried about him. He also came to visit him when he finally got to the city and was worried that he would get Tokino mixed up with the people chasing him, and almost refused to go see him in that case. It's also shown in Rai's path eventually, since he refuses to be a Sanga for anyone elses if he can't be Rai's partner, as well as declaring he'll never leave his other companions alone despite their problems.

Noteworthy Negative Characteristics:

Bad at Communicating: Perhaps a better term would be poorly socialized, as Konoe was an orphan from a very young age and also had only one close friend who cared about his well being. Therefore, despite his empathy, Konoe is very bad at communicating with people, especially his likes and dislikes. Even from Tokino, his friend, he tries to deny help when he is sick because he does not want to bother him or be worried over. Especially in Rai's path, he often puzzles over what exactly the other cat wants from him and is seemingly not good at understanding others intentions towards him or what to say in an exact situation. Any route he's on if his partner shares a secret of their past, Konoe often isn't sure what to say, just relying on being blunt and physical gestures.

Reckless: Coupled with poor judgement, it's a very bad combination. Normally he almost too wary and cautious about being around people, but when his emotions run high, he often doesn't exactly think before acting. The best examples is where he is mad at Rai and attempts to go to a dangerous bar in the seedy section of town in the middle of heat season because he was angry at the other cat for being so cryptic and wanted to find out what he was doing. This also shows up in Konoe using his Sanga powers when he shouldn't be, like he does when he's sick or nearly breaking his body to power it.

Pride/Stubbornness: On the flipside, his determination can often get him in trouble. Konoe is a cat, and like most cats, has a sense of pride. This means in situations that aren't entirely in his favor, Konoe still doesn't run, or is at least very reluctant to. He has run from a group of bandits (once he recieved outside help), but when they surrounded him, he fought tooth and nail so they wouldn't kill him. He also holds eye contact with dangerous people-like Rai, and the villains/devils-and feels that looking away is a sign of weakness. It's even more evident with his feelings where he refuses to admit he likes or cares about anyone, and even to Tokino says that he doesn't really like his favorite food because he finds it embarrassing.

No sense of direction: exactly what it sounds like. He gets lost far too easily, wanders into places he shouldn't, and is too curious to leave. The devils mock him for this when Konoe admits he cannot find his way back to the inn while in the middle of the city.

Character Fears: Fire is a fear of his that shows up any time he's near it. Otherwise he's afraid of things like his own empathic powers, the sorcerer behind the Void/the one tormenting him, getting close to other people and/or losing them, his seemingly bleak future, afraid of losing control over his emotions and himself.

Powers/Abilities:
Empathy: Konoe has the ability to empathize with another person's emotions. He has no control over when this is, but it most often happens with strong, powerful emotions, and its not just limited to normal people. It appears as a bad pain in his chest, often incapacitating him as he feels the other person's emotions just appear inside of him. (This can be restricted by only allowing it by touch, or only negative emotions, or only when he's in a certain range of people if needed)

Reading objects: he can also do empathy with objects if they hold powerful emotions and memories from their owners when they were being held/worn. It's most often seen in jewelry, but can be anything. Once Konoe touches it, he will be able to see the most recent, most powerful memory of the object's owner that got imprinted onto it. (This is already very painful and incapacitating to Konoe, but if it needs to be restricted, this power could just be removed)

Magic: Due to circumstances, Konoe essentially has another magician's emotions inside of him, lending him a connection to the other cat's soul. Through this, he has the ability to use magic. If someone hands him a spell to read out or perform, he can cast it, but isn't really interested in using it himself. He just sort of has the vague knowledge of how to use it, and has a strange power inside of him.(Konoe has very little training or will to even use this, people with a sense of magic might be able to tell he's a highly magical being, but otherwise, he has no idea how to really use magic)

Sanga: Konoe is also a Sanga, which are basically one half of a pair of fighters that acts as the support. Sangas use songs, often with instruments, or going so far as using pain or completely destroying themselves, to perform magic. Konoe himself has his own song passed to him from his father who was a very powerful Sanga, and when he 'sings' it, he can power up his 'Touga' or basically the person physically fighting with inhuman strength and speed. Different songs can perform different acts and Konoe can put more power into his song, but its unknown if he himself uses any other song than that one. He mostly just changes the tune depending on what is happening/needed. His song resonates from his body and inside the 'Touga's' heart and body, though sometimes he has actually physically sang himself, but not during battle. Sangas also have power in their voices to use magic simply by reading things out loud, though it is also unknown if this is because of Konoe's connection to the magician. More powerful Sangas have been noted to perform miracles such as growing plants and flowers, and Konoe's father was even able to exist as a lingering spirit for many years and even post-mortem, able to heal/defend his son. Konoe is however, very inexperienced and it would take a long time for him to reach that level. (This is his most prominant and powerful ability, and there are many things that can be done with the song. However, Konoe is a beginner and not very skilled yet at singing and can only do the basic 'power up' type of song, and its very draining for him currently. If need be restricted, the song could only be used for specific purposes, cannot be used to heal/on certain people, only in a certain range, requires a large amount of energy for him to use it on anything)

Personal Item: Konoe has a scimitar-like sword that he wears on his belt and fights with that he would bring along. It's able to be seen in his reference image.
